Information you choose to provide
If you join JayTree Case Files, you provide an email address through our email-service provider, Kit. If you contact JayTree Books by email, we receive the information you include in your message. We use this information to provide the updates or response you requested.
Website analytics and technical information
JayTreeBooks.com uses Google Analytics to understand website traffic and how readers use the site. Google Analytics may process standard technical information such as browser and device information, approximate location derived from network information, pages viewed, referral information, and analytics identifiers. JayTree Books uses this information to understand site performance and improve reader experiences, not to build profiles for sale.
JayTree Case Files and email
JayTree Case Files is operated through Kit. When you subscribe, Kit processes your email address and related subscription activity so JayTree Books can send requested mystery, book, trailer, audiobook, and promotional updates. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe option. Kit's own privacy practices also apply to information it processes on its systems.
YouTube and embedded media
JayTreeBooks.com uses click-to-load YouTube players. A YouTube embed is not loaded until you choose to play a video. When you play a video or open YouTube, Google/YouTube may receive information about that interaction under their own policies. The website also links to social platforms that operate under their own privacy terms.
Amazon and external links
Book and Kindle Unlimited buttons may take you to Amazon or other third-party services. JayTree Books does not control those services or their privacy practices. Information you provide to a third party is governed by that third party's policies.
Installable website app and offline caching
JayTreeBooks.com can be installed as a Progressive Web App (PWA). A service worker may cache selected JayTree Books website resources on your device so the app shell can load more reliably and provide limited offline behavior. This cache is stored locally in your browser or installed web app and can be removed by clearing site data or uninstalling the app.
Cookies and similar technologies
JayTree Books itself does not operate an advertising network. Analytics, email-service, embedded-media, and third-party platform features may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies as described by those providers. Browser controls may allow you to limit or clear these technologies.
How information is shared
JayTree Books does not sell personal information. Information may be processed by service providers used to operate the website and reader communications, such as Google Analytics, Kit, GitHub Pages, YouTube, and connected social platforms. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to protect the security and rights of JayTree Books or others.
Retention and your choices
Email subscription information is retained while you remain subscribed or as needed for legitimate recordkeeping. You can unsubscribe through any JayTree Case Files email. You can clear browser site data to remove locally cached PWA resources. You may also use browser privacy controls for analytics and third-party content.
JayTree Social Poster and Google API data
JayTree Social Poster is a private publishing automation tool used by JayTree Books to publish approved promotional content to connected accounts. When authorized with Google, it requests the YouTube upload permission needed to upload videos to the authorized JayTree Books YouTube channel. Google may provide OAuth credentials, including access and refresh tokens, so the app can perform authorized uploads.
Google account authorization and OAuth credentials are used only to authenticate the connected account and perform publishing functions requested or scheduled by JayTree Books. OAuth credentials are stored in private local or private automation environments and are not intentionally exposed in public website files or public source-code repositories. JayTree Books does not sell Google user data or OAuth credentials.
JayTree Social Poster's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Connected access can be revoked through the applicable Google Account security settings.
Children
JayTreeBooks.com is a general-audience publishing website and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information directly to JayTree Books, contact us so we can review the request.
Security
JayTree Books uses reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the services it operates. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as JayTree Books adds or changes website, publishing, email, analytics, or automation features. The effective date above will be updated when material changes are made.
